A Pitt County man shot his wife then killed himself on Monday at a home north of Greenville, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The department released information about the incident on Tuesday night on its Facebook page.
The post said deputies responded to a shooting call at 1211 Frankie Coburn Road at 2:11 p.m. along with paramedics from Pitt County EMS.
They found two people dead apparently from gunshot wounds, the post said. Further investigation determined that William Michael Lindsey, 46, shot Felicia Lynette Lindsey, 38, then turned the gun on himself, the post said.
That determination was based on both witness statements as well as evidence gathered on scene, the post said.
Family members were at the residence on Wednesday along with neighbors but declined to comment.
A sheriff’s office official late Wednesday was working answer questions about the incident.
Frankie Coburn Road is located off of Rams Horn Road northeast of Greenville.
