A Greenville woman accused of providing false documentation to law enforcement and medical staff after a 2018 vehicle crash in Wilson has been arrested.

A news release from the N.C. Department of Insurance on Tuesday announced the arrest of Angela Whidbee, 33, of 2804 Stantonsburg Road. Whidbee faces charges of identity theft and insurance fraud.

She was arrested on July 15 by special agents with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Pitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The release said that Whidbee told a state trooper and staff at Wilson Medical Center that she was a different person to avoid the legal consequences of a March 15, 2018, crash in Wilson County.

Whidbee was charged with one count of identity theft and one count of insurance fraud.
