Three people forced their way into a home on Wednesday night and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, the Greenville Police Department reported.

During the robbery which occurred at 9:48 p.m. at a home at 2205 Chavis Drive, Apt. B, one of the three burglars fired three rounds in the air, department spokeswoman Kristen Hunter said.

An incident report indicates the three people entered the home through an unsecured back door. The report also indicates two projectiles, three .38-caliber shell casings and a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, along with two live rounds, were found at the scene.

Hunter said the victims, 35-year-old Danyell Dekendrix Maye, who lives at the home, and 24-year-old Devin Laroche Dunn were not injured in the incident.

Hunter said the robbery appears to be drug-related.

After the incident, a police dog located a gun during search near the home. Officers also stopped and identified two people leaving the area who matched the suspects’ descriptions, Hunter said.

They have not been charged in connection with the robbery as the investigation is ongoing, Hunter said.
