A 30-year-old man was robbed on Wednesday night as he was closing up a local grill, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.

According to the incident report, the robbery took place about 8:40 p.m. at Charlie’s Grill and Grocery, 5135 County Home Road.

The report indicates that an employee was robbed while walking to his car, carrying a bag with cash and receipts from the business.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was approached by an unknown man wearing a mask. The man demanded the bag and ran off with into a neighborhood, a news release said.

Sheriff’s Office K9s worked the area but were unable to locate the robber, the release said.
