The Pitt County Health Department is offering an online waitlist for individuals 75 and older who want the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

The waitlist option can be accessed at www.pittcountync.gov/covidwaitlist. Individuals can also access this wait list through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Information Page at www.pittcountync.gov/coronavirus.

The waitlist is expected to alleviate the recent overwhelming number of phone calls to the Health Department’s COVID-19 Hotline, according to a department news release.

The waitlist does not guarantee an appointment, the release said. Individuals who sign up will be called and given an appointment as soon as the vaccine is available.

The health department receives vaccine doses once each week, but the allotment and the day of arrival varies from week to week.

Since some senior citizens do not have access to the internet, an expanded call center also was implemented at 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the news release.

The call center will take calls from seniors who need assistance with signing up. It will be be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.

The phone number to request assistance is 902-2300, selection 7.

The expanded call center will not take the place of the Health Department’s COVID-19 Hotline. Community members who have general COVID-19 related questions should continue to call the hotline at 902-2300, selection 4.

The hotline is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.
