Vidant Health is launching vaccine clinics in Tarboro, Wallace and Wilson for eligible community members, according to a news release.

Appointments are required and the registration process is underway at VidantHealth.com/vaccinate or by calling 847-8000.

The new locations are at Vidant Multispecialty Clinic, 101 Clinic Drive, Tarboro; Vidant Family Medicine, 125 River Vine Parkway, Wallace; and Vidant Immediate Care located inside Vidant Healthplex, 3724 Raleigh Road Parkway West, Wilson. The new locations are expected to administer about 50 vaccines per day.

Vidant serves a region of 1.4 million people and appointments are expected to fill up quickly, according to the news release. Patience is encouraged because it’s expected to take months to vaccinate eligible community members.

The news release said Vidant will adjust its COVID-19 vaccine response as needed to best serve eastern North Carolina. Community members are encouraged to visit VidantHealth.com/Vaccinate to stay up to date as locations may be adjusted in the coming weeks and months.

The news related said people are encouraged to keep safe from COVID-19 by wearing a mask, social distancing and washing hands. This includes people who receive the vaccine.

A high number of COVID-19 patients rely on Vidant for care and its employees are not immune from community spread.

Vidant Health reported that as of Monday 2,800 eligible community members have received the first dose of the vaccine, that includes individuals who received the vaccine on Sunday and Monday at the large-scale vaccination site at the Greenville Convention Center.

Vidant reported that more than 7,300 of its employees and providers have received the vaccine. More than 4,100 team members have received both doses, completing their vaccine series.

Vidant’s systemwide census of hospitalized COVID-19 patients was 192 as of Monday.

According to Pitt County’s COVID-19 webpage the county had 1,598 active cases as of Monday afternoon and a total of 14,796 cases since the virus first appeared in March 2020.
