East Carolina University police are investigating the death of a student in a residence hall.
ECU police discovered the young woman at about 9:45 p.m. on Monday after they received a non-emergency call requesting a welfare check, according to a university spokeswoman.
The university is not revealing which residence hall the young woman lived in or any details about the student. The spokeswoman said she was dead when police arrived.
The university is withholding the student’s name until the immediate family can notify other family members and close friends.
There is no evidence to suggest foul play at this time but an investigation is ongoing, police said.
Last month a young man from Emerald Isle was found dead in his room from complications of Type I Diabetes.
ECU officials have reported several other student deaths on campus this year, including two possible suicides, an overdose, and a cardiac-related fatality during the first weeks of class.
