Georganne "Gigi" Lang

GREENVILLE - Mrs. Georganne "Gigi" Lang, 77, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Burris officiating. A private family committal will be held.

A native of Yonkers, New York, Gigi and her family had made their home in Greenville since 1970 when relocating with Burroughs Wellcome. Except for a brief period of time when living in her beloved Virginia mountains, Gigi was a longtime active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She served in many roles from church secretary to council member. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, or friend, she brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. Gigi will always be remembered for her kind words, genuine interest, and the love she showed. Her strong Christian faith and love of God was evident in how she lived her life. She brought a smile to many and was a blessing to all.

After her youngest began school, she worked part-time at JCPenney. Later she worked full-time; first at Greenville Pediatrics and then the Brody School of Medicine. Her lifetime job was as a caregiver to her family, especially her father, George, and her beloved Bob.

Mrs. Lang was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles "Bob" Lang.

She is survived by: sons, Ken Lang and wife, Jane, of Leland, and Kevin Lang and wife, Robin, of Cary; daughters, Karen L. Worthington and husband, Jeff, and Kristin L. Godley and husband, Rudy, all of Winterville; grandchildren, Chelsea Lang; Robert Michael Lang; Sydney Lang; Josh Worthington and special friend, Pamela Robson; Kara Worthington Hudson and her husband, Dylan; and Alyssa Godley; brothers, Dennis Turenchalk and wife, Millie, of Pleasantville, New York, and Harold Turenchalk and wife, Allyson of Maybrook, New York; and numerous dear cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also never to be forgotten was her beloved dog and companion, Baxter.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1801 S. Elm Street, Greenville, NC 27858.
