Mack Harris Dupree

Mack Harris Dupree, 85, of Greenville, NC passed away on Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. Mack was born in Belvoir, NC on September 8, 1935 and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Belvoir High School, and attended East Carolina University. Mack was one of life’s most unique characters whose interests and gifts were truly eclectic: A talented artist in the traditions of Rembrandt and French Impressionism; an avid fly fisherman; a farmer and businessman; a trainer of bird dogs; a quail hunter; a golfer; a lover of art museums, civil war battlefields, classic movies, early jazz, blues, chess, college sports, and ancient civilizations. In addition to missing the smell of his pipe smoke and the sounds of Bix Beiderbecke’s trumpet, we’ll miss his easy laughter, his innocent heart, his wise mind, and his mastery at simply listening. He was a lover of life, and a friend without equal. Mack is predeceased by his mother, Anna Harris Dupree, and his father, James Thomas Dupree. Mack is survived by his twin sister, Neel Dupree Carson. Mack is lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law, Dave Carson, his nephew, David Carson, his niece, Lee Stephenson, and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belvoir Volunteer Fire Department, 4189 NC Highway 33 W, Greenville, NC 27834. The family would like to thank Spring Arbor Assisted Living and AsceraCare Hospice for their recent care. Due to the pandemic, a private graveside service will be held.
