Violette Touma Saad

GREENVILLE - Violette Touma Saad went to be with her savior on July 3rd, 2020 surrounded by her loving children holding her hands.

There was a private family mass at St. Peter Catholic Church followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Due to CoVid-19 a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Violette was born in Hammana, Lebanon to Michael and Lucy Touma on October 27, 1944 and was next to the youngest of six children. She relocated to Greenville in 1966 after meeting her husband George Smith Saad whom she was married to for 42 Years until his death in 2009.

Violette graduated from Sacred Heart School in Lebanon and later taught French prior to moving to the United States in 1966.

Anyone who knew Violette loved her cooking and enjoyed many meals around her dining room table. She honored her Lebanese heritage by inviting friends and family over quite regularly. Violette loved to sit and share stories and memories, and no one ever left her house hungry.

A life-time member of St Peter Catholic Church; Violette was also a member of the Lynndale Garden Club and Fidelis Book Club. She loved her time as a volunteer at St. Peter Catholic School where her children attended. She was a loving partner with her husband in Saad Rentals, their family real estate business, and managed the office for many years.

An avid fan of ballroom dancing, Violette and George could be seen taking the floor and dancing the night away most Saturday nights with The Greenville Cotillion Club. Through the years, Violette loved visiting family in Norfolk, New Hampshire, and Florida. She also enjoyed treating her children and grandchildren to wonderful annual trips to the Caribbean and Italy. She loved watching her grandsons play sports and granddaughter in dance and theatre productions which she never missed!

She was preceded in death by her brothers Eli Touma and Joseph Touma, sisters Lamia Farhat, Samira Eid and brother-in-law Raymond Eid, all of Beirut.

She is survived by her three children: George Smith Saad, Jr. and wife Kimberly Gray Saad and their children Logan Gray and Ryan Thompson; Michael Najeeb Saad and wife Mirella Bejjani Saad and their daughter Chloe Josephine; Josephine Saad Harz and husband Charles Robert Harz and their sons Davis Michael and Hayden Charles, all of Greenville.

She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law Juanita Cayton Saad of Greenville; nephew Joe Saad Jr. and wife Nancy and great-nephew Patrick of Greenville; niece Manzer Saad Rowe and her husband Eddie of Greenville, and great-nephew Mark Edward Rowe of Alexandria, VA; niece Charlotte Millan Cohea and husband Tom of Norfolk, Virginia and great-niece Danielle Cohea of Cleveland, Ohio; niece Marie Millan Egert and great niece Alexandra Egert Clark and husband Ian of Chesapeake, Virginia; niece Micki Britt Henderson of Fuquay-Varina, great niece Brittany Saad Brown and husband Derek of Erwin, North Carolina, and great nephew Jacob Saad of Fuquay-Varina.

She is also survived by her sister Wadad Eid of Beirut, Lebanon, nephew Emile Eid and wife Pia and of Los Angeles, niece Hiam Chkeiban and husband George of Beirut, nephew Joseph Eid and wife Rita of Beirut; Sister in law Rose Touma of Beirut, nephew Bassam Touma and wife Sorelle of Beirut, nephew Ramzi Touma and wife Myriam of Dubai, niece Celine Honein and husband Toni of Beirut; sister in law Laila Touma of Beirut, niece Suzanne Aboufarah and husband Fadi of Paris, niece Mai Abi Saab and husband Michel of Paris, niece Nouhad Abi Aad and husband Gihad of Beirut, niece Mona Bou Nader and husband Tony of Beirut, niece Marcelle "Mimo" Touma, nephew Michel Touma and wife Hiba of Beirut; nieces Amal, Nawal, and Gizele Eid all of Beirut. She is also survived by many other grand nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She is also survived by her best friend Elizabeth "Libby" Smith of Snow Hill.
