The Greenville Babe Ruth 15U baseball team continued its summer-long run with by claiming the title on Sunday at the Southeast Regional played in Williamsburg, Va.
Now, the team advances to the 13-15 World Series beginning Aug. 13 in Stafford, Va. Schedules for the tournament are still being finalized.
In pool play, the North Carolina club opened up with a 4-1 victory over Sarasota, Fla., before knocking off host Williamsburg by an 11-1 count. The run continued with a valiant comeback win, 6-5 over Manassas, Va., in which the Greenville team rallied from 4-2 down in the seventh inning. Then came another tight win, 5-4, over Melrose, Fla., in the semifinal round before the 15Us claimed the championship with a second victory over Sarasota, 5-1.
