Brook Valley

Brook Valley held a couples event on June 12. A four-person scramble was held on the front nine with Ryan Robinson, Sandy Steele and Kirk and Sherrie Rogerson taking the first-place prize with a two-under 34.

Brook Valley’s Deb Antos came in second in the second flight of the Down East Women’s Golf Association’s event at Minnesott Golf and Country Club on June 8.

On May 25, the Men’s Golf Association held a “Throw Back Scramble” to have an early Father’s Day celebration.

In the match, golfers were required to hit wooden clubs on the par 4’s and 5’s and an iron on the par 3’s. They also had to use a bullseye putter on the ninth hole.

First place went to Jeff Gibson, Ross Ringler, Mark Pabst and George McNabb, who finished with a 32. Second were Brent Carter, Martin Anderson, Kirk Rogerson and Donnie Bunn at 33. They tied with Frank Lee, Lee Mulkey, Rich Rados and Kenneth Smith, and a scorecard playoff moved them to third.

Cypress Landing

Kay Hicks captured first place in the Cypress Landing’s Women’s Golf Association’s Red 18 Division at Play Day on June 18. Eileen Pivar was second, followed by Andrea Holloway and Pat Coakley, who tied for third.

Nancy Hackett was the winner in the Teal 18 Division, with Alice Gryson and Particia Moore tied for second. Judy Ward took fourth and Judy Cerise was fifth.

In the Red 9 Division, Gail Baird took top honors. Barbie Spurlock was second, followed by Marilyn Talbot and Jackie Burkett, who tied for fourth.

Jan Mullis took first place in the Teal 9 Division and Toni Reiner finished second. Kris Smith and Louise Hoar tied for third while Lora Norris and Arlene Hill were knotted for fifth place.

This past Thursday, the MGA held a Red, White and Blue event. The first flight went to Bill Havanki, Gordon Hastings and Ed Disy. Tied for second were Steve Neckyfarrow, Tim Emanuel, Jeff Gould and Chris Harris, and the team of Paul Coakley, Ken Matveia, Ed Hanneman and Steve Bucher.

Richard Turner, Ken Leys and Gene More won first place in the second flight. Eddie Patton, Ray Dennis, Ernie Knobelspiesse and Ron Parsons finished in second while Charles Moore, David Lott, Dale Fincke and Bob Stouffer ended up in third.

In the WGA play, Barbie Spurlock carded low putts with Marilyn Talbot taking second in the Red 9 Division.

The Teal 9 went to Arlene Hill tied with Lora Norris finishing. Toni Reiner took third.

The Red 18 Division also saw a tie for first between Barbara Vanliet and Carol Gleason. Pat Schleifstein and Shirley McPherson tied for third.

Judi Ward won the Teal 18 Division with Shirley Grahek in second and Pat Zeising finished third.

Next Wednesday, the MGA will play a “3-Best Net” event.

The WGA will play a nine-hole round on Thursday.
