East Carolina freshman guard Logan Curtis looks across the court during a game in Minges Coliseum against Liberty on Nov. 16.

East Carolina's basketball team received a boost with formerly injured point guard Tremont Robinson-White making his season debut Saturday at James Madison, and he scored the first points of the game, but JMU had too much offense for the Pirates and the Dukes won 99-89.

One year after converting a buzzer-beater in Minges Coliseum, JMU (5-3) beat the Pirates (2-6) for the second straight season.

ECU scored 50 points after halftime, but the Pirates trailed 46-39 at intermission and JMU scored 53 in the second half. JMU shot 59.6 percent from the field and was 12-of-26 from 3-point range, very similar to ECU's 13-for-27 mark from the outside.

The Pirates got 18 points from Logan Curtis (6-for-9 on 3-pointers) in 16 minutes. Jayden Gardner and Tyrie Jackson each scored 16, and Robinson-White finished with 14.

Women's loss

The East Carolina women's basketball team couldn't extend its win streak to three games, falling 76-53 at Wake Forest on Saturday.

ECU (3-5) was led by Lashonda Monk, who scored 21 points for the second straight outing and broke the 20-point barrier for the third time this season.

Wake (4-3) scored 22 points in the first quarter and led 39-19 at halftime.
